Thirteen to vie for Jaycees Caribbean Queen title

CIBC First Caribbean has come on board as a sponsor for the Jaycess Caribbean Queen Competition for the first time. A release from the committee said it was “extremely grateful for the support.”

According to a release from the committee, Abbott’s Jewellery and Perfumery has once again come on board as a platinum sponsor for the regional competition. Gold and silver sponsors include Antigua Air Station, Glenette’s Beauty Centre and Selkridge Insurance Agency, silver sponsor Caribbean Lottery, and bronze sponsor, to date, Anjo Insurance.

This year 13 young ladies will vie for the title of Jaycees Caribbean Queen 2014.

Under the theme “Nuit de Dames” or Ladies’ Night, Antigua & Barbuda along with representatives from Anguilla, British Virgin Islands, Dominica, the Dominican Republic, Guyana, Haiti, Montserrat, St Kitts & Nevis, St, Lucia, St Vincent & the Grenadines, Trinidad & Tobago and USA, will converge at the ARG, Carnival city for a night of pageantry and glamour.

Jaycees committee member, Michael Joseph, says this year’s show aims to empower women. “We’re trying to empower women while at the same time letting them know it’s ok to have fun; good clean fun. Hence the theme.”

The show is scheduled for Friday, August 1st. This will be the 53rd staging of the competition. The reigning Jaycees Queen is Lelessa Shillingford of Dominica.
