ST. JOHN’S, Antigua and Barbuda – August 10, 2014………..Prime Minister the Hon. Gaston Browne, on left the island over the weekend for Italy for four days of talks with prospective investors.

Before elected to government, Prime Minister Browne held numerous meetings with potential foreign investors to interest them in sustainable projects in Antigua and Barbuda that would generate fair returns on their investments while energizing and growing the economy.  Prime Minister Browne will meet with some of these investors while in Italy.

“During the ten years of the UPP Government, the level of Foreign Direct Investment has declined steadily, leading to very little construction, no new jobs and no increase in revenues to the Treasury or in foreign exchange.  The ABLP Administration intends to reverse this trend.  That is why I am vigorously engaging potential investors who will play significant roles in boosting private sector development and economic growth,” said Prime Minister Browne.

While in Italy, Prime Minister Browne will meet with investors in Solar and Wind Energy, offshore and onshore natural gas explorations and high-end hotel development. He will also tour a number of the properties and businesses of the prospective investors.

Prime Minister Browne is accompanied by Tourism, Economic Development, Investment and Energy Minister the Hon. Asot Michael.

Prime Minister Browne returns to Antigua and Barbuda on Wednesday.  Attorney General the Hon. Steadroy Benjamin is the Acting Prime Minister during the absence from the State of Prime Minister Browne.
