CARIBBEAN-WEATHER- Tropical storm Cristobal churns towards Bahamas and Turks and Caicos

Tropical Storm Cristobal formed early Sunday in the Caribbean, taking aim for The Bahamas and Turks and Caicos after dumping heavy rain on parts of Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic.

Tropical Storm Cristobal formed early Sunday in the Caribbean, taking aim for The Bahamas and Turks and Caicos after dumping heavy rain on parts of Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic.

 The National Hurricane Centre reports that the storm system with winds of around 45 miles per hour and is expected to move slowly over the next 36-48 hours.

Tropical Storm warnings have been issued for the Turks and Caicos Islands as well as The Bahamas.

Cristobal, which strengthened from a tropical depression overnight, previously downed several trees and power lines in Puerto Rico, leaving more than 17,000 people without power and nearly 5,600 without water.
