Antigua St John's - Antigua & Barbuda’s tourism offices in North America have released the A&B Buzz gourmet issue just in time for the Christmas season, which is described as “the most flavourful time of year".
The December publication takes readers on a culinary expedition to discover the destination’s dining options against a backdrop of the history, culture, and people that help give flavour to the destination.
This month’s issue highlights a range of A&B culinary artists, including executive chefs, performing chefs, and cake makers who share their inspiration for cooking, as well as some of their favourite recipes.
Among this month’s attractions is “The 12 Days of Holiday BUZZ". This Facebook contest offers readers a chance to win a four-night getaway at Nonsuch Bay Resort, and several A&B culinary products. Tablemanners is an award-winning cookbook that showcases a range of local chefs, as well as Susie’s Hot Sauce and English Harbour Rum, two of the destination’s internationally recognised products.
Barbadian cuisine is also highlighted, with a comparison of the indigenous spiny lobster to the Atlantic lobster in “The Clash of the Claws". King Montgomery’s "Clash of the Pop,” a local Barbudan Christmas event, features a variety of local porridge flavours.
According to Director of Tourism for the USA Derede Samuel-Whitlock, “This month’s issue is very exciting, as food is a big part of our culture, particularly as we celebrate Christmas. Cuisine is critical in shaping the visitor experience, and the detailed content allows readers to go behind the scenes to take a look at key ingredients, garnishes, and spices, as well as traditional tools and unique cooking techniques behind the artistic passion of A&B chefs.”
