Neither police action nor finances seem to be in the immediate future for the owners of Elle Colonna, as former employees of the resort are still awaiting word on outstanding salaries, wages, and other benefits.
Employees told Caribarena.com that some of them received letters offering assurance that they would receive their due on Wednesday.
But it appears this is not the case, as well-informed sources say there is no commitment that the money would be handed over that day.
On Monday, the owners' lawyer, Steadroy "Cutie" Benjamin, said that money due to be received by businessman George Martin, who wants to take over the property, had not arrived.
Meanwhile, Labour Commissioner Hesketh Williams declined to address concerns from employees as to whether the source of the money to pay them was a credible and viable one, pointing to certain legal troubles in which Martin recently found himself.
Williams said this was not a matter for him to address, but one that should be discussed between the owners and Martin. He noted that he was still trying to bring himself up to date with the situation, having been out of the country for the past few days.

Wheres the money Cutie?
I often wonder why a lawyer should be called to the bar to practise, maybe it's so they can have a drink first.
I suggest in my humble opinion these folks put some kind of caution on the hotel before it's sold and they flee the country, and I will bet money that Cutie has been paid up front but I'm just speculating, I have no proof except to know that lawyers here won't lift a finger unless they are paid up front.
It's like KFC, you pay for the chicken then you have to eat it.
