Antigua & Barbuda’s only living national hero wowed guests at Grand Pineapple Beach Resort on Tuesday when he made an appearance in support of his adopted charity, Breast Friends, and their "Pink It" campaign.

The cricket icon was on hand to autograph "Pink It" T-shirts for awestruck guests who could not believe their luck.

Peter Dudson is a Grand Pineapple returning guest who followed Sir Viv’s prolific career for decades. “I am the same age as the incomparable Sir Viv and I can recall being glued to the television when he played in England with Sir Ian Botham for Somerset and I think it is great that he is supporting such an important cause,” an ecstatic Dudson said after getting his t-shirt autographed.

The "Master Blaster" commended Grand Pineapple Beach Resort and Sandals Grande Antigua for coming on board and supporting Breast Friends.

“I think it is wonderful that Grand Pineapple and Sandals Grande have provided us with a forum to raise funds while getting such a critical message across and I think other members of the private sector should follow suit,” the national hero said.

Sir Viv also created quite a stir at Sandals Grande Antigua last week, and cancer survivor Loretta Hawk was thrilled that the sports legend was helping to bring awareness about breast cancer to the local population.

“It is so rare to see celebrities giving back to the community selflessly and the fact that he is volunteering his time is commendable,” Hawk said.  Thanks to the generosity of guests from Grand Pineapple Beach Resort and Sandals Grande Antigua, US$2,400 has been raised for Breast Friends.
