Sandals Staff Receive Awards

Members-of-the-Management-TeamAntigua St John's - It was an evening of glitz and glamour as Sandals Grande Antigua Resort & Spa treated team members to a lavish red carpet affair for their Prestige Awards on Monday, March 26.

The annual event honours the resort’s most outstanding employees of the year. General Manager Gerald Christ commended the staff for their tireless efforts.

He said, “We are here this evening because it is crucial for us to recognise the individuals who go above and beyond the call of duty by providing first class service to our diverse clientele on a daily basis."

The winners represented the various departments at Sandals Grande Antigua Resort & Spa.

Erica John from the Food and Beverage Department was awarded the Most Improved prize, while Wine Steward Ken Merrick took home the Smile Award for Courtesy.

The Stewarding Department won Department of the Year. The Most Environmentally Aware award was given to Delthia Southwell from Housekeeping, and the Financial Controller’s award was won by Raymond Williams.

The Sandals Foundation Spirit award was given to Brenton Bristol from the projects department and the Hotel Manager’s award was won by Sales Executive Marcia Jeffrey.

Danesha Pelle of the Concierge Department walked away with the General Manager’s star award, while Scherrie Otto received the Manager of the Year award.

For the fourth consecutive year, Latoya Cabral from the Bar won the Most Guest Nominated award. The bubbly bartender was presented with her prize by returning guests Beryl and Jack Napper, who recently celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary.

The coveted Resort Team Member Award was given to Hemerd Hunter from the Butler Department.

“I am so thrilled to be recognized in such a meaning way in front of my colleagues and I will continue to work hard at the job that I love,” said an overjoyed Hunter.

The first runner up award for the Resort Team Member of the Year was won by Jennifer Franklin from the Housekeeping Department.

The invited guests enjoyed an entertaining evening which included singing performances by Mark Branker and Allison Levy.

The management team brought the audience to its feet with a dance performance.  Decked out in colourful costumes, the rhythmic routine proved to be a crowd pleaser.  After an evening of fine dining, guests danced the night away to the music of the Cutting Edge band.

Congratulations to all the winners. I was very surprised that a young lady who attends ABHTI and had a whole spread done on her in another media house for her great academic performance and work at Sandals failed to make the list of winners.
