Devil's Bridge

Devil's BridgeLocated east of the village of Willikies on Antigua’s northeastern coast, Devil’s Bridge - a natural rock arch – is one of the most visited historical sites. On any given day, there are guided tours

or simply a handful of people enjoying this unique location.

On weekends, a small group of kite enthusiasts emerges, sometimes to compete during scheduled festivals and display their aeronautical skills. The wind conditions are perfect for this event.

Devil’s Bridge is not only renowned for beautiful scenery, but is of great historical significance since it was where slaves, after escaping from their masters, threw themselves into the sea to commit suicide. The massive waves threw them against the rocks and the strong current pulled them under.

The area around the arch features several natural blow holes, and is a popular local swimming spot, as an offshore reef acts as a natural breakwater.  The arch - a bridge - was created when a soft part of the limestone was eroded by Atlantic breakers over countless centuries.

The Grand Pineapple, Long Bay Beach Resort and Verandah Resort are located near Devil’s Bridge.

It is one of Antigua's most photographed sites.
