Antigua Youth Develop Mobile App

Antigua Youth Develop Mobile AppAntigua St John's - After four days of intense training, Antigua's youth celebrated the development of their first mobile app. Most of them had no prior programming experience.

Fifty young people ranging in age from 12-21, many fresh out of their end-of-term exams, took part in the special training hosted by the Antigua-based non-profit Precise Development Foundation.

At the end of the workshop, 15-year-old Tara from Lightfoot said, “This was fantastic! At first I thought it was going to be hard team exercises, but the facilitators really made it easy. I can’t wait to get together with my friends to start making our own apps."

Precise Development Founder Wingrove Spencer said, “The experience with these youths has validated our conviction that our young people are filled with the talent, creativity, and discipline to define a new future for our country. They can embrace their correct position as producers and not mere consumers in the mobile phone revolution."

The training was facilitated by a team from the Caribbean-birthed BrightPath Foundation. BrightPath is a non-profit organisation which delivers values-based technology and digital content training to youth, communities, and governments.

Spencer added, “We were pleased to be able to partner with BrightPath Foundation for this historic event. Their team did a splendid job in presenting the material to the youth in a way that was engaging and fun.”

Executive Director of BrightPath Bevil Wooding said, “Our organisations share a common belief that technology can be used to productively engage our youth and equip them with new and relevant skills. We were happy to bring our digital content creation workshop to such a bright and energetic company of young people.”

BrightPath is an initiative of the international non-profit organisation Congress WBN.

They are our future lets continue to encourage them.

Congratulations to the kids for a job well done. This is the generation that we have to nurture and encourage. They can do it! There is still hope for Antigua. Everytime I despair, a glimer of hope raises its head.

"Let's fix the little things before we attempt to fix the big things."

It is groups like this that brings back hope to a lost generation. Lots of the ohter church leaders should learn to set examples to the youth to better our society rather then always allign themselves with the politcian and be smeered with the same brush of corruption.
Wingrove many blessings to you and your church family.

What a great story! BrightPath and co are doing a great job in turning our consumer mentality into one of production in terms of technology. Any chance that we'll be able to see their app in action?
