Antigua St. John’s - Two employees of Antigua Public Utilities Authority (APUA) were awarded second place winners in the prestigious Ericsson i-Create Mobile Application Competition facilitated by Caribbean Association of National Telecommunications Operators (CANTO).
Mobile application developers Ikenley Francis and Fana Allaway were recognized during a ceremony at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Miami, Florida on Monday.
Their submission, “Antigua Directory”, targets the tourism industry and its creation is in keeping with APUA’s recent rebranding which seeks to realign the utilities provider as a brand that facilitates consumers’ lifestyles.
“Antigua Directory” is geared towards making more efficient and accessible information available to Android phone users.
The duo’s prizes included $2,000 in cash, two net books and one month’s internship with Ericsson. The cost of their travel and accommodation in Miami was also included in the package.
