Young Players Engage In Volleyball Workshop

Antigua St. John’s – The Antigua and Barbuda Amateur Volleyball Association (ABAVA) got a “spike” Tuesday when their summer programme kicked off with a five-day VCP young players’ course at the YMCA Sporting Complex.
The course, conducted and directed by Mr. Dan Girleanu from Romania, is part of the assistance programme from the International Federation of Volleyball (FIVB).
The large turnout of young players impressed upon the speakers at yesterday’s opening ceremony that the future of the sport in Antigua & Barbuda is alive and well.

Addressing the gathering were Director of Sports, Mervin Richards; President of the National Olympic Committee, Paul Chet Greene; Coach Girleanu; and President of the ABAVA, Wilbur A. Harrigan.
The sessions wrap up on Friday, July 13 with a closing ceremony at 6 pm. The public is invited to come out as it is all about young people.
