Maginley Advances To Final Round of U18 Qualifiers

Antigua St. John’s – Another long day of qualifying matches in the TIHTA Aruba ITF tournament was met with some successes and some failures for the young players representing Antigua & Barbuda.
Noah Peter, competing in her first Under18 Girls competition experienced disappointment when she was ousted by the #1 seeded Girls qualifier, Alexandra Bourguignon of the USA in straight sets 6-0, 6-0.
Jody Maginley, who had earned his spot in the final round of the qualifiers, lost today to Gustavo Gonsalez of Mexico 6-3, 6-0.
However, all was not lost for Maginley as he secured a spot in the main draw as a Lucky Loser, and will play his first round main draw competition tomorrow against the qualifier, Peter Bertran of the Dominican Republic.

Also competing tomorrow is Kyle Joseph who will meet Joseph Altmann of Costa Rica.
Success was also earned by D’Jeri Raymond who secured her main draw spot after defeating Valeria Humpierres of Venezuela 4-2, 4-4 (10-1 tie break). Raymond will meet Gina Van Der Veen of Aruba in her first round of the main draw.
As team Antigua fights on, we wish them the very best in their endeavour to move forward to the next round of competition.
