Sandals Hosts First Rock and Road Relay

Antigua St John's - Sandals Grande Antigua’s Kitchen Department is the reigning champion of the resort’s inaugural Rock and Road Relay.

Fourteen teams comprised of employees from various departments battled for supremacy on the road during the event organized by the Sports and Social Club on Sunday.

Individuals were required to run 1.5K on a scenic route that included the challenging Halcyon Hill, but the victorious male team’s Jason Richards, Anthony Swaby, Dwayne Harrison and a barefooted Valentino Robinson proved to be the force to be reckoned with.

The Watersports Department with Keran Campbell, Adrian Merrick, Kemar Thomas and Josie Pienido took second place, while the Butler Department finished third with Julian Fredericks, N’Kosi Hunte, Dave Carr and Tyril Joseph.

In the female category, the interns team of Valentina Idelmi, Esther Gentili, Roxana Dengel and Katharina Schwoe brought home the gold, the Bar Department’s Ashell Samuel, Sianna Price, Kizumi Herbert and Teandra Moore finished in second place, and Entertainment’s Oneika Ramsay, Roxanne Roberts, Kayla Lay and Teresiann Payne rounded off the top three.

“This was a thrilling event and a great way for Sandals Grande Antigua’s employees to socialize in the spirit of camaraderie and sport,” Sports and Social Club President Andrew Belgrave said.

Spectators turned up in large numbers to witness the exciting event, which concluded with an awards ceremony and light refreshments.
