Antigua St John's - Last weekend, both in Antigua and abroad, proved promising for junior and adult athletes. The ABTA has said tennis is alive and kicking in Antigua & Barbuda.
The Halcyon Tennis Club successfully completed its 2nd Tennis 10s tournament for 2012, with 53 players registered. This tournament featured a red ball and orange ball tournament.
According to the association, "This tournament sang out that the future of junior tennis in Antigua & Barbuda is bright."

RED ball tournament:
Girls:
Winner Ianthe Fraser (Tennis w/Samantha & Island Academy) defeated Vida Bertances (St John's Lutheran) 10-4
Boys:
Winner Isaac Sternhagen (St John's Lutheran) defeated River Robins (Island Academy) 10-4.
ORANGE ball tournament: Girls:
Winner Ashley Bersma (Halcyon Tennis & St Nicholas Primary) defeated Kaila Ambrose (Halcyon Tennis & Foundation mixed) 4-1.
Boys:
Winner Seth Joseph (Halycon Tennis & St Nicholas Primary) defeated Aron Fields (Halcyon Tennis & St Andrews Primary)
The organisers dubbed the tournament a success, and are already planning for the next one.

A release said, "We would like to thank Nadine Fuller for organising the tournament. We also thank the members of the Halcyon Tennis Club who made the players, parents and onlookers feel at home. We thank the players for coming out and doing their very best, and we look forward to a larger registration at our next event."
The ABTA aimsto have all 20 primary schools part in the School Tennis Initiative (STI) part of the upcoming
tennis 10s tournament in June.
