Two in a Row for Jyme

Jyme-BridgesAntigua St John's - Jyme Bridges won his second consecutive road race in the Antigua & Barbuda Cycling Association A-class series, taking Sunday’s Pares Circuit race in 2:41:50.259, ahead of Robert Marsh and Clint Henry.

Marsh, the 2011 male athlete of the year, was unable to outlast Bridges after the announcement of his award the night before.

Henry, Bridges’ teammate from the Rattlers Club, was third behind Marsh, who rode with a bandage on his face after he was injured while preparing his bike for the race.

Though Marsh took the hardware on Saturday, it was Bridges who rode away from the pack midway during the race to hold on to the victory.

Last week, the Rattlers, with Bridges in the lead, swept the Matthew Auto Parts 45-mile race before his second straight victory.

In the B-class, Tasheed Gordon, also of Rattlers, won ahead of Tamiko Butler of team Terminix and Ashley Rhodes of Club Savoy.

Gordon also claimed the junior class before going on to take the B-class.

Joel Phillip of team Terminix and Rattlers’ Colin James finished second and third, in that order, in the junior division.

Lindsay Duffy of Rebel Racing Team beat Kevinia Francis of Road Runners Cycling Club to win the female class.

Two members of Team Terminix - Joel Phillip and Nigel Fabian - were first and second in the Cadets class.

Zackyle Joseph, Ayeisha Solomom, and Javid Frith finished in that order in the Sports class.

The A and B classes did the eight-lap circuit from Welch Supermarket on Pares Main Road west before taking a left towards Potworks Dam, a left onto Collins road and another left on Pares Road.

The cyclists’ averaged 20 minutes per lap before Bridges finished with a relatively easy victory.

What is this I am hearing that Tamiko Butler lost her place because she was not wearing the clothes she rode in? I heard that she changed into "a team tee-shirt" and was disqualified from receiving her prize? IS THAT TRUE?
