Antigua St John's - Jody Maginley and doubles partner Christian Cargill of The Bahamas advanced to the U18 doubles semi-finals after defeating Edgar Diaz & Jorge Emmanuel Ortiz Garcia of Puerto Rico 1-6, 6-3 (10-4).
This after Maginley & Cargill defeated Shakir Elvin(ANT)/Ondre Cargill (BAH) 6-3, 6-1 to secure their spot in the doubles.
In the girls' U18 doubles round one, D'Jeri Raymond and her doubles partner, Sarah Vargas (USA), were on the losing end of their match, going down to Amanda Austi/Gillian Perrotta of the USA 4-6, 6-7 (4-10).
As the Copa Sultana continues, the association wished the remaining Antiguan competitor, Jody Maginley, the very best in his
bid to the doubles finals.
As the other team members head home, the association congratulated them for their efforts for the last three weeks.
"We have had some successes and failures," a release said, "but as the teams goes back to the drawing board and builds on
their weaknesses, we encourage them to continue to work hard and play hard."
