Antigua St John's - Fielding a young and inexperienced team, Inet Young Warriors were unable to hold on to an early lead as they went down 2-1 to Hill Top in their opening match in the ABFA Second Division.
In his first match for the club, Trevorn Hazelwood gave Warriors the lead after eight minutes, but goals in the last 20 minutes from Massiah Hillhouse and Jhievere Richards helped Hill Top to their come from behind win at the Radio Range field on Monday.
With 90 percent of last season’s squad lost to transfers to other clubs, Young Warriors had to rely on their young player,s aged between 11-21, and they gave a good account of themselves.
Hazelwood dispossessed a defender just inside the penalty area before hitting confidently past the goalkeeper after Hill Top had put the youngsters under early pressure.
However, Hill Top admitted this season to the ABFA programme this season and with a few players with Premier Division experience including former Empire players Yafu Lake and Sydney Samuel dominated possession and created the better chance before they wore down the Warriors.
