Antigua St John's - National football players Devikka Tittle and Argell London, of Lady Hoppers, along with Heidi Samara Thomas of SAP, have received scholarships to Bryant & Stratton College, a proprietary college in Syracuse, New York, for the next two years to play football and earn a degree.
The national players will again have a chance to earn four-year scholarships once they work hard, as a number of the school's players are offered scholarships to play football at four-year colleges following their Bryant & Stratton graduation.
The players were able to attain the scholarships through the Greenbay Hoppers FC, which has a long-term relationship with College Director of Athletics Nick Dimitrievski, along with the assistance of the secretariat of the Antigua & Barbuda Football Association.
Gwen Salmon, who has the responsible of the ABFA Women’s Football Programme, said, “This is an initiative that has been taken by the ABFA Women’s Football Committee. On a yearly basis, we will work hard to get our national players football scholarships to assist them in getting a higher education through a sport they love.
I am appealing to the other players to stay in school, work hard at their game, continue on the right path, and make sure they aim for success in all their endeavours."
