The race for supremacy in the Digicel/Hadeed Motors and Observer Group Premier Division football competition is far from over, as an eight-point lead held by former champs BASSA throughout the second round has been cut to just five, with three rounds of matches left.
Old Road moved within five points of the front runners when they hammered Goldsmitty 4-0 at the ARG on Sunday, moving to 33 points after 15 showings. BASSA, who were held to a 2-2 draw by All Saints United on Friday, are on 38 points after the same number of outings.
The scenario represents a glimmer of hope for the Old Road team, as they are yet to take on BASSA in the second round schedule and would be hoping that the All Saints men would drop additional points before their impending clash two weekends from now.
In their clash against Goldsmitty however, Old Road didn't seem bothered with the tense situation, playing a tight passing game while making their opportunities count.
Striker Donavan Pert, who had a double-strike, found the back of the net in minutes 38 and 58, while winger Tyio Simon and midfielder Gason “Bubbler” Gregory scored in minutes 42 and 84 respectively.

Inconsistancy
Just imagine this is the first update since the bassa and parham conflict. I think also if your going to start a story about a conflict like that you should follow up on it and enlighten us the readers of the sports football section about a breaking story of **erest to who understands the law of the game of which you had started. Don't just start it then leave us in a limbo wondering and speculating. it's like starting a joke then sit back and laugh at us. Please give us a follow up on your investigation on that matter and please update this football section alot more often than it is done now. Thanks for listening.
