Antigua St John's - The West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) has lauded the Government of Antigua & Barbuda for its support in ensuring that the Antigua leg of the recently concluded Caribbean Twenty20 Tournament was an overwhelming success.
“There were record turnouts for all six days of matches in Antigua, and the role of the Ministry of Tourism, in particular, was instrumental in providing additional post-match entertainment and also in promoting the matches,” WICB Commercial Manager Nelecia Yeates said.
She added, “We look forward to partnering with the Ministry of Tourism and the Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority in future for the success of other cricket tournaments and matches in Antigua."
Yeates noted that Tourism Minister John Maginley was personally instrumental in ensuring that the ministry and the government were fully on board as an event partner.
"The Caribbean Twenty20 and the other international cricket events are very important parts of our events calendar, and we look forward to partnering with WICB in hosting future events and adding that extra bit of excitement," Maginley said.
The Ministry of Tourism provided top Antiguan entertainers including Tian Winter, Tizzy, and Claudette Peters for post-match shows.
