Bouncing Leads ANU with Century Against Anguilla

Captain Sylvester “Bouncing” JosephAntigua St John's - Captain Sylvester “Bouncing” Joseph hit a superb century to put Antigua & Barbuda in command against Anguilla on day one of the three-day Leeward Islands Cricket tournament in St. Kitts on Saturday.

Joseph scored 108 decorated with four sixes and eight boundaries, as Antigua & Barbuda were bowled out for 352 in 85.3 overs.

It was a patient innings by the captain, which lasted 202 minutes in which he faced 174 deliveries.

Two other players had half centuries, namely Maxwell Georgeson who scored 65 and Austin Richards Jr. 63, while Mali Richards and Justin Athanaze chipped in with 47 and 34 respectively.

The cream of the Anguilla bowling was Yanick Leonard with six wickets for 90 runs.



Shane Burton had two wickets for 51 and Chaka Hodge picked up two wickets for 103 runs.

In reply Anthony “I-Roots” Martin took two wickets for 16 runs as Anguilla closed the opening day on 74 for four from 32 overs.

Lyndell Richardson had 20 runs for Anguilla.

The game continues today where Antigua will be looking for its second win in as many matches after beating St. Kitts last week.
