2011 Nissan Leaf

2011 Nissan LeafThe 2011 Nissan Leaf is the first electric car from this Japanese automaker. This 5-passenger, 4-door hatchback runs exclusively on electric power. It uses a 107-horsepower electric motor and a lithium-ion battery pack.

Nissan claims a maximum driving range of 100 miles. The car plugs into either a quick charger, which can fill the battery to 80 percent capacity in 30 minutes, or a 220-volt household outlet, which can fully charge the battery in 8 hours.

The Leaf comes only with a single-speed transmission that functions like an automatic. Available safety features should include ABS, traction control, an antiskid system, front-side airbags, and curtain-side airbags.2011 Nissan Leaf

Available features should include a touchscreen infotainment system, a charging timer, and the ability to control charging and vehicle systems from a cell phone. We have not yet tested the 2011 Nissan Leaf.

As soon as the British RIGHT HAND DRIVE Leaf is available, I will the first in line for one... It is ideal for small, relatively flat, islands such a Antigua. Because of its ridiculous price, the Government should waive taxes.... However, the Government will not be able to benefit indirectly because it uses no fuel.. I want one of these vehicles...

A car like would be great for small place like Antigua. One could install a small solar system in their home to harness the solar energy to charge up this car.

will this help

I know with the high cost of electricity, it *may* not be a good thing, but I wonder if a car like this could help ease the struggle against rising gas prices for the common Antiguan. Certainly, if we got serious about harnessing solar energy, an electric car would be beneficial. A range of 100 miles would certainly be sufficient for the daily jaunt around Wadadli.
