On Wednesday, January 12 Edgar Barreiro came to CCSET International Academy to explain why the Bible is important. As part of his presentation, he gave every child in the school a Bible and told the students to read a little every night.
Barreiro told everyone in the school a story about a prisoner who asked for money and got a Bible from his mom. The prisoner, in anger, threw the Bible away, only to find out later that his mom had put money in the Bible. “You need to read the Bible,” said Barreiro. “It is full of good things.”
Barreiro explained that Gideons sends Bibles to over 150 countries, distributing them in hotels, prisons and hospitals. I think that some of the stories Mr Barreiro told, and the fact that he gave the Bibles can help make a difference in some of CCSET’s youth.
Edgar Gonsalves-Barriero (grandfather of grade 2/3 student Jonathan) is a Lay Pastor in the Moravian Church and a member of the Gideons International, which serves 150 countries worldwide, with six active members in Antigua.
