Baptiste’s Attitude is not Becoming

Minister BaptisteDear editor. According to Rita Mae Brown, “You can be truly rude until you understand manners.” I therefore ask, when will the Hon Hilson Baptiste understand good manners?

My conclusion id, if he is unable to conceive at his present age, then he will never ever get it, which leaves no hope.

Children are natural mimics who act like their parents despite every effort to teach them manners. I am therefore left to wonder what type of household Mr Baptiste grew up in.

When I read the article where Baptiste was offended by Caribarena, I wasn’t surprised with the way he dealt with the situation, with all the expletives, for this is Baptiste, up front and personal.

This minister is a total disgrace not only to the UPP administration, but the people of St Mary’s South. Individuals from the south have been stigmatised for the way they speak, and as the representative for that area, he isn’t doing much to prove Antiguans and Barbudans wrong. In fact, he has caused much damage by adding gas to the fire.

We were always encouraged to think before we talk, but Hilson’s tongue is in total control, which makes it very complicated for his brain to take situations into consideration before sharing meaningful remarks. Need I remind you of the comments made about Justice Louise Blenman’s rulings on the election petitions?

Need I remind you of the remarks made by Hilson Baptiste about ALP workers underminding the UPP administration... and the list goes on and on.

I can guarantee anyone that your parents trained you to be courteous to the people around you. Furthermore, this is common sense which,  judging from Hilson’s attitude, he lacks. It is manners that maketh a man, Mr Baptiste, and not attitude, impatience, loose tongue, ignorance, pompousness, “wud”.........

A man is known to be good or bad according to the way he behaves toward others and under some circumstances. Mr Baptist, your attitude stinks, it is unacceptable, it is not becoming, it is digraceful, shameful, wutless. This puts you beyond bad, and you have taken disrespect to a new level.

Actually, it seems as though this is one of your hobbies. Hilson Baptiste, a man with proper manners attracts the attention and admiration of everyone, but you have drawn the ridicule and contempt of others.

A man may be wealthy, handsome, or he may have the advantage of enjoying power and position, but if he does not posses good manners, it would be useless to have such advantages. All these assets would be poor compensation for the lack of good manners. There are many who would put up with even insults from others, but wouldn’t tolerate bad manners.

Finally, Hilson Baptiste, good manners are a manifestation of good breeding and are indispensable to everyone. The personality of a man is well brought out by his behaviour and speech, and these are reflections of good manners. Whether a man is good or bad, popular or unpopular, famous or notorious, will depend upon his manners.

His company would be welcomed or hated according to the manner in which he behaves with others. There are so many articles, books, and publications out there about good manners, and I would like to encourage you to start reading; do something fast, for this cannot continue. After all, it is never too late to try something new or change.

Question: When electing a representative in St Mary’s South, what qualities are taken into consideration by the electorate?

A pig in a palace is still a pig. This man rude crude and boorish behavior is not new information. We all rallied around the UPP and voted for the princes and the fronts. The lesson here is we the people should ensure that the parties selection process for candidates meet a certian criteria. We have sufered too long because we have put idiots and men of low moral Calibre in business.
Fit and proper standard should resemble normal Corporate Governance Standards
1.
Academic knowlege of the subject or experience
2. High moral calibre, no unrepentant adulterers, whormongers or sextual deviants
3. financial responsibility no history of bankruptcy or suspending significant payments to creditors.
4. No conflicts of interest (family and friends should not get the government contracts that should be open to tender.
5. No criminal record
Clearly we need a lot of subsititutions in our existing parties, so lets set the ground rules before it is too late.

Concern Antiguan - Section 3 of the constitution

#16 tenman » 2012-06-02 17:32

@Concern Antiguan you stated at 2012-06-02 13:10 :
Quote:
I bet you anything that you are an ALP supporter. Then you are going to say what does supporting ALP has to do with this. Everything.
I gather political color (you already stated class) also determines someone's worth for you. Thank God the nation's constitution protects me from bigots like you:

Quote:
FUNDAMENTAL RIGHTS AND FREEDOMS OF THE INDIVIDUAL. 3.- Whereas every person in Antigua and Barbuda is entitled to the fundamental rights and freedoms of the individual, that is to say, the right, regardless of race, place of origin, political opinions or affiliations, colour, creed or sex, but subject to respect for the rights and freedoms of others and for the public interest, to each and all of the following, namely-

Ok. so we hit on Baptiste....and maybe he is rude and speaks badwords. Is Asot Micheal who is suppose to be and educated man any better?? How many of our Politicians on either side do live and show good moral and social examples that our children can follow?? most of them have wives and concubines, some are gap, some have sewage mouths and some are thieves. Osbert Federick, dont know if you are still a teacher but you thought me many years ago at ASC, and i read something you wrote a few weeks ago on this same site and couldnt help but wonder what had happened to your smarts. I guess politics brings out the dumb and dumber in all of you so give Baptiste a break since he never had the smarts in the first place.

Obviously you do not get the picture. Keep chastising Mr. Baptiste for the crumbs we squabble over. In the mean time, the Syrians kings eat the meat from our tables. You hypocrite. Speaking of the naked king is not a metaphor for you. You are sending a subliminal message. I bet you anything that you are an ALP supporter. Then you are going to say what does supporting ALP has to do with this. Everything.

Concern Antiguan, I take it you never read the articles which chronicled bad behavior by persons like Assot Micheal, Eddie Mansoor? I just find strange your suggestion that because Brother B came from poverty his negative escapades should not be criticized. Your comment helps explain why the country is in the state it is, due to persons being unwilling to tell the "King" when he is naked. I take it in order to be immune to criticism one needs to have come from drinking things like pond water to champagne? It then makes me wonder since your attitude seems one of apathy to negatives things done by persons who have made it up by "their own boot straps", why would you use the moniker "Concern Antiguan"?

It Is not about trying to bring down someone and no one is saying that Hilson hasn't done anything positive, for this is like saying oil is gas, but the way he goes about handling certain situations needs to be looked at more keenly. As a miniter of Government and an ambassador not only for the people within his constituency but also for Antigua and Barbuda he needs to develop a greater level of self control. You can talk about the shouls and the Hadeeds etc but you need to look at the bigger picture and realize they cannot operate within our country without being granted permission. At the end of the day who are they having lunch and sipping wine with? Our politicians of course. So if it is a situation where certain cl** of individuals are dominating our economy and causing brain drain then we must fix the individuals with the closest links to these cl**. If our politicians from begining are able see these individuals for who they really are then Antiguans and Barbudans wouldn't be left in the wilderness cry SOS since our politicians would have had a moderus operandi as to how they should go about dealing with them from the begining.

Antigua society always bring down the common man who make something of himself. If Mr. Baptiste was from a well known family nothing would be made of this. Here is a man who defy all odds. Instead of talking about his positives, we look for all the negatives to drag him down. Shame on all of you. The shouls, Michaels, Hadeeds and the other serians have their hands in our xxxxxs and nobody complaining. Always follow the money not some idle infuriated chatter.

the microwave killer

#8 tenman » 2012-06-02 09:50

Adding to the list of infractions was his destruction of public property, a microwave, at his ministry. If an employee were do such there would have been consequences, but not MP Baptiste. I have known Brother B for at least thirty years and he does not behave this way, when not stressed. A part of the problem lies with the feeling that ministers of government need to manage the day to day running of their assigned ministries. Due to many of them having no real management experience mistakes often result, which only add unnecessary stress. Essentially if the voters do not relieve them of their duty, God will

quick question to you, i would agree to say there is two sides to every story, but my question to you is, whether you no the other side or not do you think as a public figure/politici an someone that the young/old persons may look up to or inspire to be like, does it give that person(s) (hilston baptiste) all right to behave the way he did .. Could you give me your opinion of that ..thanks

A Wa Ya!!!!

We have seen him in action on several occasions

#6 Aaron » 2012-06-02 09:06

One must admit that there are two sides to a story and a conclusion cannot be drawn after one party has presented but we have seen Brother B in action on several occasions not just with caribarena and do you this his behaviour is acceptable? Do you think Hilson is someone you would want children to look up to or emulate?...Of course not!....We must remember our children not early learn from reading books but by watching or observing and putting what is metted out into action. Our attitude, our body language, our spoken words says a lot about who we are as grown individuals and sometimes we must try our utmost best not to let anger or frustration get the best of us. I am not really a big fan of Baptiste but i respect the people's decision to elect him but i do not off springs from him being elected. He must understand that there is a time and place for everything and he must also a little bit more self control. He is a public figure and after leaving politics i am sure he would want to leave a positive image behind but he is not doing enough create such and image in fact, he is causing much disgrace.

you carnt look at the sun and say it's the moon, but then again, in baptiste case, he would think so. you can take a pig out of the mud, clean him shine, spray cologne on him. when all is said and done he will return to the mud. you could shave the stripes off a zebra, they will still come back as stripes. you carnt bend an old branch it will break. that xxxxxs that man has called stupidity, is molded into his head. baptiste it's never too late, but you are gone beyond recognition. antigua people good, excellent choice of a dummy to represent. a beh. :D

Years ago I said that only in Antigua could Hilson Baptiste be elected to such high public office. The fellow is a disgrace. He has been married to two teachers and has learnt nothing. Hilson Baptist gives truth to the statement that if you take a pig and put it in Buckingham palance, it is still a pig. Education is the key.

much is expected

#1 Voice of Reason » 2012-06-02 05:19

Ive always heard the old saying, much is expected from whom much is given. Clearly I have to agree with this because brother B wasn't given much xxxx training as a youth & I really don't expect any different from him as my Representative.
He is brash, common, bullish, and quite ghetto in my opinion. Just because you take the man from the country, educate him, insert him into polite society, dress him up, & sprinkle him w cologne, he is still xxxxxxs son from the country with little to no dexoxxm.
