Human Rights Day Message

photo- reallygoodfriend.comDecember 10 is being recognised as International Human Rights Day, and commemorates the adoption by the United Nations of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights in 1948.  The theme this year is “human rights defenders who act to end discrimination”.

To mark the occasion, British Foreign Secretary, Rt Hon William Hague MP, will release a video statement which highlights international cases of concern regarding human rights defenders and includes details of UK government policy on human rights, including the Foreign and Commonwealth Office’s newly developed human rights web pages.

To view the video message visit the British High Commission’s web site at http://ukinbarbados.fco.gov.uk/en/

In line with the British government’s support for human rights, the British High Commission in Barbados has helped a number of charities and NGOs in a variety of areas, including work against domestic violence and support of women’s rights.

In addition, the High Commission has given support to the St Vincent and the Grenadines Human Rights Association to build capacity to address Freedom of Information issues.

I have noticed that deportation of none nationals have become so political that this angry guy get involved . He hates non - nationals and speak down to and about us in such a inhumane manner . The holding of our passports is inhumane - the way we are held without the right to an attorney for weeks is inhumane . The way parents /mothers are deported leaving their children that are born Antiguans is inhumane - or deport both mother and child from their Antiguan father in so inhumane . The immigration says we have no human rights . Dr. Court believes that is non- nationals that voted him out of office -so he is on a revenge course . Hope that the international human rights organisations are listening .
