The few voices who are attacking Gaston need to hold Lester Bird accountable for his stewardship as Opposition Leader. He has failed to perform his duties satsifactorily and should be removed voluntarily or otherwise if necessary. Gaston dont be afraid of them, challenge them for the leadership. Lester doesnt haave any divine right to it. Challenge him me say.

The issue is whether Bird has the capacity to the job. his recent history suggest that he cannot and that is the crux of the matter. Sentimentality will take us nowhere, the issue needs to be addressed as Browne said in a mature and respectful manner without hurting Bird.

I gather from this an other articles that most people have lost confidence in Mr. Bird ability to lead. Mr. Bird should not force himself on the people. He should be a statesman and resign.

You guys need to understand that as Chairman of the Party Gaston has to answer to the media! Unlike Robin who hides in his goat pen when the media calls, the chairman can't do that! The problem seems to be Lester who refuses to meet with the media! So whatever the Chairman says - even if lester agrees with it (as in the Vote of No Confidence Motion) he changes his position as the media reacts!
