Murder Suspect Returned to Antigua

Kenroy MarshallAntigua St. John's - The elusive murder suspect Kenroy Marshall was returned to Antigua on Thursday from the United States.

Marshall arrived on a United Airlines flight from New Jersey on Thursday, in the custody of at least two US marshals. He was handed over to local officers.

National Security Minister Dr Errol Cort and Head of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) Nuffield Burnett confirmed the transfer.

According to Burnett, lawmen will be moving forward quickly with their case.

“The man is on the island, and we are going to be going full speed with our interviews and investigations,” he said. “This is the best I can tell you for now. We will be going ahead with our investigation.”

Dr Cort announced last Thursday that Marshall had been nabbed in Philadelphia after making his way to Guadeloupe in December.

Marshall is a “person of interest” in the October double homicide of two Dominicans Alwin Robin and Alex Riviere who were found  at a residence on Tristan Alley in Cedar Valley.  A significant quantity of drugs was found at the scene.

Dr Cort had stressed that Marshall’s arrival at the VC Bird International Airport would not be the same as in December, when he was returned from Montserrat and managed to overpower two police officers before escaping.

#38 JahMa » 2013-02-26 16:22

@ bjsm ignorance will always take a backseat to intelligence, so go take your favourite chair, yes the one in the very last row to the back, in the middle. This goes for all the other posters who finds no better thing to do than to take up space on caribarena commentary section. Good Lord, thanks for democracy and freedom of speech. If the United States of America (USA) is "MERDICA" quoting the idiot sitting in the very last row at the back, then Antigua must be a SLAUGHTERHOUSE. Okay just using the logic of that fool oooopppss! What to do with hardened criminals?

#36 The Revolutionary » 2013-02-26 01:08

How about we get a real prison to put them in? One that will be impossible to break out of. One that will put these offenders to work. Make them earn their keep. Make them go plant cotton and sugar cane for our economy. A prison should not be in the middle of town for the prisoners to enjoy cricket matches from their back yards, and for convicted murderers to just jump the fence and slit someone´s throat or go jump up in carnival behind your daughters and corrupt your sons.
And then there are those hardened criminals who committed murder before they finished puberty and have repeatedly flaunted our country´s laws. Are taxes to be constantly pumped into housing them forever? No! If you sharpen a blade or fill a needle every now and again for such hopeless cases and make it known that we are serious about doing away with crime, you will gain ground in the fight for crime.

ANTIGUA BILL, When the Police had arrested the two ex-cops and lead the entire country to believe that they killed Alwin and Alex and also charged them for the drugs that was found at the murder scene I can't remember reading any comment from you, why not? I guess evidence was not important to you then. Are these fact or information?1.W hen Marshall was picked up initially it was before the Scotland Yard was brought in. 2. After the Scotland was brought in and crack the case and attempted to pick up Marshall he jumped through a window and ran with gun in hand. 3. He was arrested in Montserrat and brought back to Antigua and escaped again. 4. He was declared wanted, armed and dangerous.5. You Antigua Bill and none of his family who are so concerned about him now never turned him in. 6. He swam to Guadeloupe and flew from there to the USA. I'm suggesting to you Antigua BILL that his course of conduct is much more than a man who is simply trying to set a new world record for his athleticism. Antigua Bill, as you have said only living people tell tales and Marshal's accomplishes are very much alive and just for your information one of them is already in police custody.

Observer 2 if Mr. Marshall did kill Alex and Alwin I believe that he should be brought justice. I must ask long has this saga being on? If the police had enough evidence to charge Mr. Marshall I am quite sure that they would have done so. Do you agree? Where I live he would have been charged with escaping police custody while they gather the evidence to charge and hopefully convict him or anyone else with double murder. The only fact are two dead bodies the other information is only circumstantial. He who feels it knows it, sorry for your loss and pain. Hope that there is some closure soon.

Kenroy and Alex were not best of friends. I would have known kenroy prior to Alex's death if such were the case.
someone did call Alex's phone and was told or asked not to call back and stop bothering him. Did they know each other? Yes! Best friends? No!
someone kidnapped and killed Alex for reasons one should reveal. Alex knew something obviously, and someone beat it out of him.
Wrong place wrong time, was when the knowledge that got him killed was obtained. The police are aware of everything. Maybe the authorities should also investigate the wareabouts of Alwins wrist watch worth thousands, which he had for years.
In their plot against the young man, they used the wrong friend, since he was never involved in drugs and worked hard all his life from the time he banged water to go antigua.
Truth be told, justice will prevail even if we have to take it in our own hands; this death will not go unpunished. Alex harmed absolutely no one.

We are too conceited in this country

#31 Observer 2 » 2013-02-23 16:44

To Antigua Bill, you are correct, dead men tell no tale. However, dead men leave evidence and clues in all sorts of ways as to their last days, hours, minutes and seconds alive. Although they are dead those who kill them are alive and well and can tell and are telling the tales. It seems like you are hoping that the police do not get the evidence they need so he can go back on the streets. I will help you with some facts. It is a fact that two men were murdered. It is a fact that Kenroy Marshall and Alex was best of friends. It is a fact that Kenroy Marshall phone called Alex phone and that the call was connected around the time that Alex left his work place and was not heard from again. It is a fact that he lied when he was picked up previously when he said he did not have any contact with Alex before he was killed. Those are some facts for you to consider Antigua Bill. So rather than question every comment that is made by bloggers, you should come clean and tell the police what you know.

#27 fed up citizen » 2013-02-23 12:47

2 lives lost for no reason, no suspect, no charges and much to do over persons of interest. What type of justice allows for a person of interest to be detained instead of question and release? It is evident that we allow things to go on in Antigua that we are quick to comment on when it happen in another nation. If the police have evidence that this guy is involve, they should come out and charged him for the crime, then they will be able to bring charges against, anyone who assist with his escape. The longer they wait, the more time they give anyone else involve to leave the island, cover up their tracks, bribe or threaten anyone with information that can incriminate them. It's said to say but "justice" will never prevail in this case.

The Alex character was kidnapped on his way from one of his worksites to another, ....at gunpoint (where his car was left openeded with the keys still in the ignition). Then he was beaten and trtured to reveal where Alwin was, for whatever the reason. This is how he ended up at the house where they then killed him after having shot Alwin onsite!
Alex was an honest hardworking young man, who most probably was aware of something, since he was not only related to Alwin, but they were also friends.....tha t means he must have previously visited the house prior to this, and Kenroy somehow must have known this!
Think what you want, but I know Alex wasn't into anything illegal, and all he had, he aquired through his hard work.....Kenroy must pay, this is just too hurtful.
One love

I understand and agree with you. But I am curious to know How thei Alex character end up in that house. What was his connection with the house. Up to now we still don't know whose house this is. Was alex kidnapped and dragged to the scene? No matter what we can all agree the brother did not deserve this. I hope everyone in this case finds peace.

I couldn't agree with you more! As A close family member of both the guys, I can't help but cry each day I remember this horrific death especially for Alix. We all love our family, but when they're in the wrong and have no heart like me toy Marshall and his accomplice, then we have tort them know there are consequences for their actions.
We are constantly in pain over Alixs death. We literally relive this thing daily and still can't believe he's really gone. Call me crazy I really don't care. , but this guy should be made to pay. He's done far too much to too many families during his lifetime. Let justice prevail.

Why did we spend money to get this back to Antigua if he is just a person of interest, what if we cannot charge him and have to let him out who pay's for the cost to find and bring him back. why our CID did not fly one or two officer to Phila to question him and make a decison if we want him back.

The other side of the family coin

#13 Observer 2 » 2013-02-22 10:17

I've heard the comments from his family saying that they are scared for his life because there are big people who is involve. What is instructive for me is that they did not categorically or otherwise deny his allegedly involvement in what he is suspected of. Now those family members who are so concerned about his life, did they give any consideration to the families of the two young men who was murdered? Did they encourage Kenroy to turn himself in or did they assisted him to leave the country? We must not forget that two human beings lost their lives in the most cruel way, especially Alex who was tortured before he was murdered. Are the family aware of the pain that other families whose love ones murdered? Did they do everything to hide and protect him? Let the law takes its course, he must face the consequences of his actions. So do not come to the public crying your sad-songs about his safety. He is very where he is. Have you thought of apologizing to the families of those who are suffering their lost? I can't believe you people...

It is not just the boat captain that should be charged, the Police also should be charged for incompetence for allowing him to escape twice (house & airport). It is hard for any sane person to not think this guy had lots of assistance, so everyone who had any contact/dealing with him should be charged as well.
