Pares Farmer Fined $30K for Cannabis

Colin Peters PlantsAntigua St. John’s - Colin Peters was convicted and fined $30,000 after he pleaded guilty to a number of drug charges in the St. John’s Magistrates Court on Thursday.

The 39-year-old Pares Village resident was arrested and slapped with charges for several drug-related offences on Wednesday after police officers from the Narcotics Department, Special Operations and Special Services Unit executed a joint operation on his farm at Gilbert’s Estate.

During the surprise 5 am raid, police uprooted and seized 3,375 mature cannabis plants along with two pounds of cured cannabis that was discovered stored in a shack on the property.

Peters was subsequently charged with possession of cannabis, cultivation of cannabis, and possession of cannabis with intent to transfer.

Yesterday, Chief Magistrate Joanne Walsh ordered the convict to pay the $30,000 fine forthwith, or he would spend an alternative two years in prison.

Meanwhile Police are making an appeal to Lorenzo Bright to turn himself in to the nearest police station.

Lawmen want to question the English Harbour resident, also known as “Sea 4” and “Rambo”, in connection with a hit and run accident that occurred at Friendly Alley in St. John’s on the afternoon of July 24.

Bright was allegedly operating the motorcycle that was involved in the accident that caused a 25-year-old woman of All Saints to be treated at the hospital for multiple injuries.

As the police continue their investigations into the matter, they are also appealing to anyone who has information about Bright’s whereabouts to contact the nearest police station, or call Crime Stoppers at 800-TIPS (8477.

Using weed regularly over a long time can lead to a state called "burnout." A person who is in this pattern tends to be inattentive. They can be described as dull, and being burned out from marijuana abuse affects their performance at work or at school.

Personal relationships suffer because the user just doesn't have the ability to fully participate in them. When burnout is especially pronounced, the pot user may not be able to respond to other people at all. They are in their own world.

Marijuana use affects males by lowering testosterone levels. A man's sperm count goes down, and the potency of his sperm is also affected. Women who use this drug are more likely to have interruptions in the normal cycle of ovulation. For females, even using weed occasionally has a negative effect on her fertility. If both partners use pot, these issues make it more challenging for them to conceive.

Educate me, like I'll enlighten you. Technology has afforded us the opportunity to RECYCLE WASTE and make said waste usefull, so lets recycle your thoughts.
Jumbee in our dialect means Spirit, so henceforth, JUMBEE is SPIRIT. Everyday, that you are positively blessed to open your physical eyes, and you ask your mental eyes to take you to the JUMBEE of CHRIST, you are asking Christ's Jumbee for positive blessings. When you visit your priest, pastor or obeah woman/man and ask them to intervine on your behalf, they pray to The Jumbee World, too. When you send positive/negati ve vibes throughout the Universe, Jumbee's are your messengers. So, now that you have come to this REALIZATION, an important REALM to becoming ENLIGHTENED, please know, that JUMBEE and their Children are in your every moment of time.

Alcohol, which is a drug and is been consumed by the millions of gallons does far more damage to the hueman body than cannibis.
In addition, pharmaceuticals always have major side effects, and don't even mention how said pharmceuticals and other LEGAL over the counter drugs are easily converted synthetically and are 100 times more addictive than cannibis. Reading and research are essential. Do both and then wake up from your sleep

It is illegal to coltivate, use or sell CANABIS (HERB).
I would think with the financial status of the Country, the GOAB woul try and make sure the get a hold of all Monies coming to them.
I do not know if the person Charged (I DO NOT KNOW THE PERSON) would have the amount of Money to Pay Forthwith.
I think the person shoul not be made to be BOARDED at 1735 at TAX PAYERS EXPENCE for wto (2) yrs,the person should be given sometime (MORE THAN 3 MONTHS LESS THAN A YEAR ) to PAY,if He/She CANNOT OR WILL NOT PAY the no OTHRE CHOICE.
Plerase tell that is not the way to go.
PLEASE THE CHIES MAGISTRATE HAS ALL RIGHTS TO DO WHAT SHE DID>

...where's the justice...

#1 Jumbee Picknee » 2012-07-27 05:15

The system swiftly charges and convicts an individual such as this farmer for cultivating a natural organic plant which does no harm to the environment or huemans, yet ministers of government and their cohorts like the Director of xxxxxxxx xxxxxxs, police officers, custom officers etc are given minimal fines or a pat on their behind. Jah usually serves his justice in time.
I wonder how many medical doctors, pharmacist and others in the medical field are been investigated, charged, brought to justice, convicted for the distribution of synthetic drugs such as 'bath salts', meth, extacy, perks etc which are been consumed in bars, clubs, hotels and brothels.
