Antigua St. John’s – A series of reported break-ins at private dwellings and subsequent larceny of property has occupied the attention of the police who are actively carrying out investigations into those incidents.
According to a release from the Office of Strategic Communications (STRATCOM) a person or persons unknown unlawfully entered a Cassada Gardens home some time between 7:50 am and 1 pm on Tuesday and stole two 14-karat gold rings valued at $4,000.
Similarly, on the same date, a Fort Road home was breached between 4:30 and 10:20 pm and one laptop computer valued at $2,400 was stolen.
Also on Tuesday, the occupants of a home in Pigeon Point reported the loss of EC $1,850, US $220, £35, three cellular phones and an IPod that occurred during a break-in between the hours of 2 and 10 am.
The police are appealing to any member of the public with information to contact the Criminal Investigation Department at 462-3913\14 or call Crime Stoppers at 800-TIPS (8477).
The police are also investigating the circumstances surrounding a wounding which occurred at Perry Bay around 9:30 am on Tuesday.
It is notified for the information of the general public that between the years 2010 and 2011, several motor vehicles have been seized by the police. This was as a result of a number of defects and violations under the Vehicles and Road Traffic Act, Chapter 460 of the laws of Antigua & Barbuda.
The said vehicles are impounded at police headquarters and the government motor pool. The said vehicles are available for immediate repossession upon production of documentation relative to valid insurance and licensing.
Those with defects must be repaired. As provided for by the said Act, any motor vehicles remaining unclaimed for a period of ninety (90) days shall be sold at public auction.
The auction sale of these vehicles will be on Tuesday 14th August, 2012 at 10 am at the Police Headquarters and Government Motor Pool.
This will continue until all vehicles are auctioned.
The registered owners are therefore advised to act promptly to avoid the specified course of action.
