Drug Charges for TrioAntigua St John's - Three men are in police custody assisting with investigations after a quantity of cannabis was allegedly discovered in their possession.

Officers from the Narcotics Department and Special Services Unit (SSU)  executed a search warrant on Wednesday at the home of a man living in Swetes.



Over five lbs of the controlled drugs cannabis was allegedly discovered. Three men were found on the premises and taken into custody.

A fourth man is being sought by the police in connection with the offence. They are facing charges of possession of cannabis, possession with intent to transfer, and drug trafficking.


The police are also investigating a report of robbery, where a couple in Cassada Gardens reported that they were robbed of their money and other valuables by two armed masked men.

It was reported that shortly after 1 am on Thursday, while the couple was asleep at home, they were disturbed by the sound of dogs barking.

The husband reportedly went to inquire, when two masked men, armed with guns, entered the house and held the woman at gunpoint and demanded money.

The couple, due to travel, was robbed of an undisclosed sum along with their travel documents.

The police are appealing to anyone with information to contact the Criminal Investigation Department at 462-3913\14, or call Crime stoppers at 800-Tips (8477).


Meanwhile, the commissioner of police reminded all holders of firearms licenses that their licenses are due by June 1, in accordance with Section 41, Subsection (4) of the Firearms Act, Chapter 171.

Firearm holders are required to present their firearms to the Licensing Officer at Police Headquarters between 8:30 am and 1 pm, Monday to Friday. No license will be granted without a physical examination of the firearm.

Failure to comply with this notice will result in having the licenses revoked, and the firearm confiscated.



Meanwhile, the commissioner of police appealed to people who might have unlicensed firearms to turn them in to Police Headquarters immediately.

He said anyone found in possession of an unlicensed firearm would be dealt with to the fullest extent of the law.
