Old Road Farmer Distraught Over Theft

photo- lovecebu.com.jpgAntigua St John's - An Old Road farmer is distraught over the theft of a quantity of pineapples estimated to be worth $60.

The pineapple plants were said to have been intact up to 11 am on Wednesday May 23. Later in the afternoon, when he revisited his farm, he discovered that someone had stolen his praedial produce.

The farmer is even more displeased that after making a report to the Bolans police and providing them with information, they have not responded positively.

De police don't really care about the common man. One evening I observed two teenagers in a fight...they had rocks then the fight got bloody. I called the police when I realized what was happening while I tried to stop the fight. Police took the info and said ok..eventually the fight ended with one bloody from head injury. Up to 45 mind later no police....this occurred on American road not far from the police head quarters. I guess they were waiting on a call that said one guy was killed.

Thsi particular call them farmer has more patience than Job. They continue to terrorize this gentleman and with absolutely no help from the police. Youcall the police and if they do come, it is just for a friendly visit; nothing will come out of it. Until one of these farmers catch one of the culprit and impart some real justice and set an example, nothing will change. I really hope it does not come to that, but it seems the only solution.

Do you not know that loads of Antiguans too, lost their life savings to Stanfords bank? do you really think that the very large majority of Antiguans don't want to see corrupt government ministers who commit crimes be dealt with to the fullest extent of the law? come on man.... get REAL

@reality, you cant be serious... talking about your fellow american again... stanford is american! i cant believe you have nothing better to do than comment on this artice about a $60 pineapple theft to talk about your fellow american again.... how come you never talk about the other american ponzi guy madoff? surely that is much more important as he stole 100 times what stanford stole .... and right there in americas living room... so explain to me how the stanford issue and Antigua is worth more of the average americans time than that? surely with all your preaching about stanford you should be preaching 100 times more about the moral issues behind the madoff scandal and all the american corrupt government officials that let that happen right? can you send me a link?

Recently, tens of thousands of people from dozens of countries complained that an amount seven times what all of Antigua creates in a year was stolen by their citizen, resident, Knight and (according to his passport) diplomat.

No investigation, no report, no arrests.

Perhaps the so-called "Minister of Justice" could explain why.

solution

#6 tenman » 2012-05-25 21:09

Perhaps he can follow the government example at Pearns and put a chain (formerly a gate) across the road leading his farm. Anyone wanting to pass need only call a number he could leave posted on a sign next to the chain. The truth is these matters call for proper security involving police on patrol. There is a saying: when the ** is away, the mice will ... When persons feel they can escape getting caught, and have no conscience, there is little else which will prevent them from committing the crime

Why is it that when the public seek assistance from the police it always seem the response is lasidasical and a matter of fact and that is not good at all. From time to time and there is a crime that needs the help of the people there is this big thing about helping the police which is good so how it is that the common man needs help with his/her casethe police is so hesitant to respond to their cry of help.

The police can't even police themselves. How do we expect them to police the nation? I know farmers who have suffered for years and the police have on record all the reports yet do very little if anything at all. Some farmers have even died with cases pending in the court.

Given the recent divulged activities of the police, the question to be asked is if the reports are being made to the same ones who are robbing the farmers?

Thou shalt not steal. :sigh:
The man work hard to plant his stuff and ppl ah tek liberty fu gah teef de man livelihood. And what is going on with Bolans police? In fact what is going on with the whole police force? I am tired of hearing the BAD reports coming from all across the island. When it's not police involved in undercover crime, it's police negligence. What next? The police force is steady building an awful reputation. Do something Vere Browne. DO SOMETHING!!

Shame on the thieves AND the Police

#1 yt » 2012-05-25 08:17

Whoever stole the pineapples should be ashamed of themselves. Farmers work hard for little profit. The Police don't give a crap about anyone but themselves.
