Police Investigate Insurance Fraud

Police Investigate Insurance FraudAntigua St John's - The police are close to wrapping up an investigation into a wide-reaching scheme to defraud an insurance company by making bogus claims for payment.

Head of the Criminal Investigation Department Supt Nuffield Burnette confirmed that the police are about to make an arrest in the case.

A number of people are alleged to have staged a traffic accident and submitted claims for compensatory payments.

Burnette declined to provide any additional information, but said arrests were imminent.

He said up to three people are suspected to have been involved. He also did not identify the targetted insurance company.

Staging accidents/Insur ance fraud is one of the biggest businesses in Antigua today. Let's hope someone gets jailed for this and a lesson can be learnt.
