Foul Play Possible in Recent Death

Police reportAntigua St John's - The police are not ruling out foul play in the death of a 56-year-old Pigotts man, whose body was found in Paynters pasture Friday night after relatives reported him missing.

Police spokesman Corporal Frankie Thomas said the police are considering all possibilities as they investigate the death of Matthew "Victor" Samuel.

Reports said Samuel, a livestock farmer, left home on Good Friday afternoon to tend to his animals in the nearby pasture.

When he did not return home at the usual time, family members, along with concerned villagers, mounted a search party.

His body was found at around 9 pm near the Precision Centre.

Thomas confirmed that there was blood at the scene, but shied away from saying that it belonged to the deceased.

He said an inquest would take place this week, followed by a post mortem to determine the cause of death.

Meanwhile, the police reported a relatively quiet Easter holiday period, with only a few break-ins.

Corporal Thomas however reported that a traffic accident on Monday resulted in injuries to at least two of the three children who were passengers in a vehicle that flipped and rolled over several times before it ended up in a yard on Old Parham Road.

The driver had been heading east when the driver apparently lost control as the vehicle veered to the right and struck a guard rail.

The driver reportedly ran from the scene.

Meanwhile, A post mortem examination last Thursday revealed that 17-year-old Xavier Jackson died from electrocution.

The examination, performed by Pathologist Dr Goodwin, revealed that the Swetes teen died of acute cardiac failure, due to electrocution.

Jackson’s body touched the galvanize portion of a shop near the Irene B Williams Secondary School in Swetes on Monday, while he was tending to his animal.

The shop reportedly had some electrical flaws which caused a portion of it to be energized. Jackson died on the spot. Investigations are still ongoing.

The police are investigating a report of wounding that left a man nursing a stab wound to his face at the Mount St John's Medical Center.

The incident took place at around 11 pm on Thursday, after the victim had an argument with another man at a nightclub on Independence Drive.

The man reportedly reached into his pocket for a knife and stabbed the victim in his face.

Doctors at the hospital said the wound, which took around five sutures to close, was serious, but not life threatening.
