Antigua St John's - The Labour Department officially opened its new offices on Monday on the first floor of the State Insurance building, which also houses the Ministry of National Security and Labour.
Labour Commissioner Hesketh Williams said although the move has been in the works for over a year, it is a timely one. He noted that the new surroundings were an improvement from the Friendly Alley location, which had structural and other issues.
Williams said he hopes his staff will be better able to meet the public's needs from the secure location.
“We are also now able to offer continued education as they {clients} wait for service, as reruns of the Department’s Labour Matters Programme will be shown on the television in the waiting area,” he said.
In declaring the floor open, Ministry of Labour Dr Errol Cort said it was always his intention to have the department housed in the ministry's headquarters.
