French Bank's Relationship With Stanford Questioned

Allen StanfordA French bank is being investigated over whether it ignored suspicious transactions involving R Allen Stanford. Online news sources said the concern stems from a Swiss bank account held by a Stanford company at SG Private Banking (Suisse) SA, a subsidiary of Société Générale.

The subsidiary, it is being alleged, was funded by investors who were bilked in the alleged Ponzi scheme Stanford is awaiting trial for.

It is further suspected that this money was funnelled into Stanford's private accounts and used to bribe his Antiguan auditor.

A planned investigation will examine whether Société Générale followed due dillegence procedures and asked appropriate questions in the situation.

RE: French Bank's Relationship With Stanford Questioned

So is what Allen Stanford has done even a crime in Antigua? No written reports have been released, there were no hearings, no charges have been filed.

Apparently, running sham investment schemes disguised as regulated, audited banks is legal based on Antigua's behavior over the last two and a half years.

You are, of course, entitled to your opinion, but based on the interim reports of three receivers (two Antifuan, one US), the civil and criminal complaints, Alex Dalmady's "Duck Tails", the M&B lawsuit as well as reporting of the worrldwide financiial press, you may want to reconsider.

Of course the GOAB could release it's FSRC report, or have televised hearings likethe US did for their Madoff investigation if they would like to show their innocence.

I agree with you concerning Leroy King,we do need to hear his side, But it is just my view that the Govt both past/present were not a part of what ever transpired, his lawyer on the other hand may be another story.

Releasing the FSRC report and hearing the testimony of Leroy King would probably go a long way towards settling the matter.

Presumption of innocence is fine, but the subsequent behavior of the GOAB (both parties) also speaks volumes.

Whats fishy is that a financial fraud seven times the GDP of Antigua has occurred (this has been confirmed by both Antiguan receivers, Vantis and Grant Thornton in addition to the US receiver), yet not a single person, even Sir Allen himself, has been indicted thy the Antiguan Government.

This and the suppression of Antigua's report into the matter and the legal stalling of the extradition of Leroy King creates a fishy smell indeed!

why dont they go to Heaven and see if they can find a bank there to investigate.Kin da strange that Stanford was able to dupe soo many persons across the globe and no one noticed anything.Hope these people are not just trying to redeem themselves after The Madoff Saga.Something just seem a little fishy here.

“Societ e Generale private bank is cooperating with the Department of Justice with respect to the requests that have been made. Because of the ongoing investigation into this affair, we are not in a position to say anything else,” a spokesman told Reuters."

So Errol, Lester, Baldwin and all the others who txxk xxxxxxx are about to be exposed. I wonder if they'll get the same cushy "extradition" deal that Leroy King has???

Good points indeed.
It's a sure bet there's going to be more implications other than an obscure French bank before the Stanford train wreck is fully explained.

A xxn-artist to the end

:-x I bet he remembers where he has the money stashed once he conns the court into letting him go!!

The man is an alleged thief and a xxn-artist, he has tried every trick in the book to try and avoid going before a jury, xxn-artists never change their ways and Stanford proves that. If he is well enough to think up all these excuses then he's well enough to stand trial. He makes me sick :-x

It is important to note that these are relatively old allegations of Stanford using his Swiss account for his own personal gain. Stanford and his previous lawyer(s) have disputed these claims by the federal prosecutors and have long maintained that the accounts were used in the ordinary course of business to fund Stanford's many subsidiaries. As for "bribes" to the Antiguan auditor, I'm confident that the auditor would have more than likely considered these "payments for services rendered"....bu t alas, he died before he could be questioned under oath. Thus far, we have only heard the allegations of the government…it would be interesting to hear Stanford’s defense. I sincerely hope that he rids himself of his alleged long term amnesia to mount a credible defense at trial.
