Cort Wants Heightened Regional Security

Dr Cort wants Heightened SecurityAntigua St John's - Forty eight hours after the United States announced the death of the leader of al Qaeda, Osama bin Laden, National Security Minister Dr Errol Cort wants regional agencies to heighten their security alert.

Dr Cort, the chairman of the Caricom Ministers responsible for Law Enforcement, General Crime and Security, said bin Laden’s death will, of necessity, affect security protocols across the Caribbean, as in other parts of the world.

“I have contacted the (Caricom) Implementation Agency for Crime and Security (IMPACS) in Trinidad, and I have been in touch with the (RSS) Joint Regional Communications Centre in Barbados, as well as the Regional Intelligence Fusion Centre, also in Trinidad, and I have asked all Caricom agencies to be on full alert,” Dr Cort said in a speech to visiting riflemen.

Additionally, he said there is also a need to ensure that the region revises the various watches on people moving in and through it. This move, he said, will better enable the various agencies to exercise control over such movements.

The National Security minister said there is concern that groups affiliated with al Qeada will attempt to mount retaliatory strikes against American interests in various parts of the world. With this in mind, Dr Cort want Caribbean countries to be on a heightened state of alert.

US President Barack Obama announced on Sunday night that bin Laden was killed by an American special ops team that flew into Pakistan to carry out the mission.

Bin Laden is believed to have ordered the attacks on New York and Washington on September 11, 2001.

Cort's right we do need heightened security.

We need to watch out for ministers who have a history of being paid retainers 7 times their salary by people who run ponzi schemes.

We need to watch out for ministers who do not pay tax on their xrixes...sorry retainers.

We need to watch out for ministers who fraudulently submit bills to Medical benefits.

But most of all we need to watch Cort!

This is the same "Cort" who was Sir Allen's lawyer while also being the head financial regulator of Sir Allen's country, am I wrong?

What is this person doing outside of prison?

Good advice Cort. Everyone flying in the Caribbean please be vigilante. From a quick analysis of the Caribbean, we would be more vulnerable at the sea ports.

I would like strict security, and more border patrol in the Caribbean, especially in the islands that are well known USA ally.

This is the Erol Cort who alleged will soon be indicted in Sir Allen Stanford case, right? Is he really still in some government position? I'm shocked that Antiguan politicians haven't learned to cut the weak and wounded (not to mention xuilty) from the herd.

Considering the Vere Bird Colombian Arms incident, Gereald Bull's development of a ballistic "Super Gun" on Devils Bridge, and John Allen Mohammad's recruiting and training Lee Malvo, Antigua is actually a net exporter of terrorism (congratulation s, sort of).

But seriously. At this point, Antigua's greatest asset is that it doesn't matter. Why would any terrorist bother?
