Another Life Claimed

Tragic AccidentA tragic vehicular accident on the All Saints Road has left one man dead and two others seriously shaken.
Dead is 22 year old Casey Gordon of Browne's Avenue.  26 year old Andrew Sawyer of Nut Grove and his two year old son were treated for minor injuries and released.
According to eyewitness reports, Sawyer was driving his white Toyota Corolla, A 25307, westwards towards St. John's when he saw a group of young men on motorcycles heading towards him.

The driver quickly hit the breaks to avoid hitting the cyclists but collided head on with Gordon's motorcycle. The impact severed Gordon's right arm and threw the body some 110 feet away into a ditch. The arm was located almost 150 feet, from where Gordon's mangled body lay.

His motorcycle was shattered into several distinct pieces, which lay scattered near the crash.

Sawyer's vehicle, meanwhile, went into a tail spin and ended up in a ditch 139 feet from the point of impact, according to police reports. Upon impact with the ditch, the vehicle's airbag became inflated and police say this possibly prevented the young man's injuries from being fatal.

Police say no other bikers were on the scene when they arrived.

Sawyer who was conscious at the time of entering the ambulance was able to relate a few details to the investigating officers.

All Saint Road AccidentThe incident occurred at around 10:45pm. Gordon's older sister, Sikota Gordon identified the body while District doctor, Cecil Phillip pronounced the body dead.

Acquaintances of the Gordon's describe them as a close knit sibling family, who migrated to Antigua from Guyana more than ten years ago. The three siblings which include an older brother, who was also on the scene, previously lived in All Saints. The siblings were raised by a close family friend after their parents migrated  to the United States.

Gordon, a former student of the J.T. Ambrose school and the All Saints Secondary School was at the time an employee of Sandals.  He is said to have purchased the motorcycle just two weeks ago.

Police continue to investigate the incident and are calling on the group of bikers or any other individuals with information to come forward.
