MP Remains Cautious Despite Road Repairs

Member of Parliament for All Saints West Chanlah CodringtonAntigua St. John's - Member of Parliament for All Saints West Chanlah Codrington said he remains "impressed" but "nervous" about road maintenance in his constituency almost ten months after he threatened action against the Public Works Department.

Work has since been done in Freeman's Village and Belle Vue Heights among other areas, according to Codrington, but he pointed out that Lightfoots and Sea View Farm are still awaiting improvements.

"There is still a significant amount of work to be done in Lightfoots East and West where it is impassable. Even in Sea View Farm where Rally Davis complained vehemently about the road where water comes in and settles in front (of) his yard and he cannot access his driveway ... it is really an untenable situation," he said.

Last October, the MP threatened to take a petition with the signatures of 4,000 constituents to Public Works to force road improvements, claiming his constituency was being deliberately targeted.

Soon after he issued that public warning, work crews were sent to All Saints West.

Codrington expressed cautious praise about what has taken place to far, stating: "They have done impressive work in Belle Vue Heights to the left of Watsons's gas station, so I have to commend them."

He said further, "Sea View Farm is my main concern after Freeman's Village because homecoming there is slated for December 15 to 22, 2012. I don't want them to wait until the last minute to do the work."

"I'm impressed but nervous because I know how they function and I will keep lobbying. I will not start to be timid. At the same time I understand the pressure of the financial situation. I am very tolerant but I won't stand by and see other constituencies being fixed at the expense of All Saints West," Codrington declared.

i do like tha fact that MR. codrington is forging ahead with his plans for other villages in his constituency. HOowever, may I remnd you sir that the peopl of Buckeys are human beings too, and we need access to good roads just as anyone else.
When it rains in Oliver's t s extremely difficut to get out, we sometimes have to wear astic bag to work and school, nd even when a fire tok pace\9 as in the case of one in \june, we have no access to proper roads to assist our neighbors. Please do not forget Olivers

Chanlah Codrington

It seems to me that Chanlah is being treated as an outcast in the party that he played a role in to be elected govt. However on occasions when his govt shows blatant disregard for citizens of this country, Chanlah only continue to tow the line in support of his colleages. Why complain when you already know the kind of people you are apart of? It's obvious that your colleagues have no respect for you so they continue to treat you like an adversary. Govt's action towards you only demonstrate that you are only a convenience at election time to add up the numbers to win the election. They really don't care about you or the people who you represent. Something for you to think about Mr Codrington.

PWD don't have a clue about road repairs, they've just repaired the Potworks Dam road for the sixth time in 4 years, and it will need doing again next year. Total and shameful waste of our tax money going down the drain, again. When will they ever get to do something right the first time.

...warrior/sain t/back bencher

#1 Jumbee Picknee » 2012-08-02 04:51

Greetings, One Aim, One Truth, One Destiny...To those of us that have known you from a youth growing up, you have always been steadfast, vigilant, trustworthy etc. There are times when One gets caught up with the wrong crowd, as is your case with the UPP. This does not necessarily means 'dooms day', since situations like these can lead to positive growth, wisdom which are requirements to curtail negativity and enhance positivity.
Keep been the warrior you are, but been a saint/back bencher within the Court of King Baldwin Spencer does not means you should cower and whimper. This King, like Herod needs to know who and where the Power of Our True Savior comes from, and it ain't from hell. The INDIGENOUS ANTIGUANS selected you, don't keep going along, just to get along. Our liberty is at stake.
