Antigua St. John's - The Conservation Group of Experts (CGE) on National Communications is currently in Antigua conducting a hands-on training workshop at the Jolly Beach Hotel on the vulnerability and adaptation assessments for the Latin America and Caribbean region. The event concludes on Friday.
Chairman of the group Ruleta Camacho said the event is of notable importance since it addresses one of the Group’s key objectives of assisting non-Annex Parties in the preparation of their national communications by providing technical assistance to these parties for the vulnerability and adaptation assessment.
The workshop comes with a view to improving the accuracy, consistency and transparency of the information reported in national communications, and this particular event is one in a series of sessions aimed at fulfilling this mandate.
This assessment, said Ms. Camacho, is not only important as an input into national communications, but also because of its potential to serve as a very important planning tool for sustainable development and poverty alleviation.
The training opened on Thursday and was attended by Robelto Isaac, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Agriculture, Lands, Housing and the Environment among others. Isaac delivered the feature address.
