Antigua St John's - That is the way that a former Police Commissioner described an incident on the All Saints Public highway.
The former commissioner Rawlston Pompey reported that he was appalled at the density of smoke which in his view had posed an hazard to many motorists using that portion of the All Saints highway yesterday afternoon between 5.45-6.00 PM.
The hazard he spoke to was the fogging by employees of the health department with thick smoke spiraling skyward reducing visibility and bringing traffic to a temporary halt as the only oncoming vehicle that could have been seen approaching was that which was carrying the fogging machines.

Thank you.
Fogging of mosquitoes are done at dusk; that's when the mosquitoes come out to play and bite. In my county in Florida, the helicopters fly at dusk to spray the mosquitoes. Antiguans, we need to stop making big issues about everything, even though it's a benefit to us.

Mr. Pompey
I do agree with you that heavy fogging at peak traffic hours can cause accidents. The Health Department should consider abandoning the heavy fogging units and upgrade to truck-mounted fogging units that use an ultra-low-volum e (ULV) spray, basically very fine aerosol droplets that stay aloft and kill mosquitoes on contact. The amount of insecticide sprayed by ULV units is small compared to the area treated, and minimizes exposure and risks to people, pets and the environment.

HAZARDOUS CONDITIONS
None of the two you have suggested. Thus, there was no need to engage you in a quarrel, since that seemed to be the primary objective of a hand full of people.
High regards for your thought provoking and invariably "...valuable contributions" to the many sensitive issues. You might, therefore, wish to review and grade yourself on this one.
Suffice it to say, we both came from different disciplines. If you do not understand "...ROAD SAFETY," you may may not see the rationale in the news story.
Suffice it further to say "...HAZARDOUS CONDITIONS" on the public roads are not limited to "...broken down vehicles; ...impasssable roads; ...pot holes with/without water; ...loose gravels; ...fallen debris from trucks, including oils and concrete mixture, but also "...thick smoke that reduces the visibility of motorists and pedestrians, whether from fogging or g** fires along, or in the vicinity of the highway and other impediments. Road users know the effects of these when they are encontered. Do you not know of "...smoke hazzard?' Have a good day Eric.

How about that? There might be less accidents on that highway, caused by mosquitoes and dangerous drivers.
