Antigua St John's - Police interest in Antigua & Barbuda’s former high commissioner to the United Kingdom, Sir Ronald Sanders for questioning about his possible involvement in the ongoing US$14 M IHI controversy seems to have died a natural death.
Sir Ronald told Caribarena.com that he has not heard from the policeforce since a wanted bulletin was issued in January. He was named as “a person of interest” in the multimillion dollar Ishikawajima-Harima Heavy Industries Co Ltd (IHI) Japan scandal dating back to the 1990s.
“I know nothing about it other than its issuance and my lawyers' response,” Sir Sanders said.
Caribarena questioned the former Antiguan diplomat about rumours that steps have been taken from his end to sue the police for defamation and/or slander.

Caribarena also spoke with Commissioner of Police Vere Browne for an update on the status of the case, and particularly the force’s interesting Sir Ronald, but Browne said he had no information to give at this time.
“The police will give an update at the appropriate time. I have no comments on the matter right now,” the police commissioner said.
The police had justified issuing a wanted bulletin for Sir Sanders on unsuccessful efforts to contact him. The bulletin was also published on the government's website as an official news release.
