Christmas vending this year will be allowed in St John's from December 1 to January 7, 2011. Vendors have been reminded that if intend to sell merchandise, inclusive of food and drinks, they must first obtain a vendors’ permit from the St John’s Development Corporation.
The fees are as follows: $300 for vendors selling items such as clothing, toys, gifts, miscellaneous items; $250 for food; $150 for cold beverages, coolers, and small trays. There is also a $50 mandatory alternate fee, and $10 application fee.
There are 53 designated spots, and applications will be processed on a first-come first-serve basis. Vendors are also informed that vending will be strictly monitored and regulated by the St John’s Development Corporation, as well as the police.
The designated areas are as follows:
• Between Friendly Alley and Nevis Street
• From Market Street to Joe Mike's
• From the corner of Market & Nevis Street outside Judgment Square
• Between Antigua Jewellers and Shoul’s Chief Store
• Lower St Mary’s Street below Rising Star
• Lower St Mary’s Street outside ACB Parking Lot
• Corn Alley and High Street
• High Street outside the former CIBC
• Long Street outside the Museum
• Upper Market Street outside the Museum,
• Lower Church Street outside the Museum
• Lower Church Street out side the St John’s Police Station
• Upper Church Street
