Already knowing she’s going to make her mark in the fashion industry, not by design but by her face as a model, founder of Strut Modelling Agency Anique Frederick is excited about her upcoming runway performance this Sunday.
Dubbed “Eden: The Expereince” the fashion model says her audience will be in for a treat, as they can expect live drumming, African dances, steelpan music, acrobatics, and a live performance from soca artiste Blade.

Set on resurrecting the “fashion model” and making Antigua and Barbuda stand at attention to realise the potential of the fashion industry as it pertains to models, Frederick is on a mission to return the entertainment to fashion shows.
Founded in February, with assistance from Shane Marsh and Melissa Bird, Strut Models has since grown in number, to a total of 30, which Frederick says is increasing. Joining the team is Manager Damien Benjamin. Together, Strut proves to be more than just fashion and beauty. Frederick says to ensure full development, after potential models have passed a screening process, and are admitted into the agency, those still in school will have to maintain their grades as specified by the agency; those who are working, however, would have to ensure that they have a certain number of CXC passes.
Strut is also about giving back to the community. Proceeds from Sunday’s show will be shared between the Adele School and the Fiennes Institute.

Aside from a fantastic display of performing arts, of course, with the Strut Models taking the spotlight, you can expect to see fashion from various boutiques including the Pink Mongoose, Xante, VCNG, Exotic Antigua, What’s In Store, Trendy Kids and Urban Apparel.
Sponsors for the event include Premier Beverages, Mongoose Airbrushing, Solid International, Island Photo, and Info-net Studios.
Tickets can be purchased at Lady Kouture in the Vendors' Mall, or from members of Strut. For further information, call 784-3836.
“Eden – The Experience” takes place this Sunday at the Multipurpose Cultural and Exhibition Centre, beginning at 8pm.
