For those who don't know him, Major General Peter Cosgrove is an Australian. He was interviewed on the radio recently.
This was his reply to a woman who questioned him concerning guns and children. Regardless of how you feel about gun laws, you have to love this. This is one of the best comeback lines of all time.
This is a portion of an ABC radio interview between a female broadcaster and General Cosgrove, who was about to sponsor a Boy Scout Troop visiting his military headquarters.
FEMALE INTERVIEWER:
So, General Cosgrove, what things are you going to teach these young boys when they visit your base?
GENERAL COSGROVE:
We're going to teach them climbing, canoeing, archery, and shooting.
FEMALE INTERVIEWER:
Shooting! That's a bit irresponsible, isn't it?
GENERAL COSGROVE:
I don't see why, they'll be properly supervised on the rifle range.
FEMALE INTERVIEWER:
Don't you admit that this is a terribly dangerous activity to be teaching children?
GENERAL COSGROVE:
I don't see how. We will be teaching them proper rifle discipline before they even touch a firearm.

Come on Guys!!!
I'm surprised Caribarena has presented it like a topical news item. Was this the intention., or is Arena Laffs a joke column? If not, it casts doubt on the rest of your news stories...
So Karlene, the fact that you dont get the joke nor the (correct) message in it says a lot about cultural diversity... you have to rise above it and see the humour... the message is in there!
Persona lly I am more concerned about a 'topical news story' that is an old internet joke... or is that the idea of Arena Laffs?

Karlene, Karlene, Karlene...
Reality is that weapons are going to be a part of our lives for a long long time and I'd prefer to see a weapon in a persons hand who has been taught to use it properly, vs in the hand of someone who has never been trained. Which would you prefer???
The interviewer was out of line, and it figures she would be from a tiny litlle island in the caribbean
