Antigua St. John’s – The grand prize winner of the Lions Club of Antigua’s fundraising raffle, Janella Habibullah recently received her brand new, fully loaded 2012 Kia Rio motor car at the Harney Motors showroom.
In presenting the vehicle’s keys to the lucky Fort Road resident, Lions President R. Eural Baptiste II noted that without the support of the general public, the club would not have been able to execute its many community-based programmes of assistance to the less fortunate.
“Congratulations and thank you and all the thousands of persons who bought tickets and supported this raffle. Be assured that all of the profits will go back into the community to assist the poor, the needy, the aged, the infirm, the sick. Specifically, we have earmarked funds from this project to support our Free Prostate Screening in conjunction with Dr. Dwayne “Baba” Thwaites on 18th August,” Lion Baptiste said.
Consolation prizes donated by imobile were also presented to Sylvia Samuel and Kareem Henry.
Chairman of the Club’s Fundraising Committee, Lion Leslie Salmon MJF also used the opportunity to thank the raffle’s many sponsors.
“Our platinum sponsors, APUA/imobile and Harney Motors worked hand in hand with us to ensure the success of this raffle. We could not have asked for more and we thank their management and staff for so readily recognising the importance of the work that we do.
