Antigua's chief medical officer, Dr Rhonda Sealy-Thomas, has said no travel advisory has been issued in relation to Hispaniola (Haiti and the Dominican Republic), despite a cholera outbreak which has so far claimed more than 4,500 lives.
Neighboring islands like St Maarten have reinforced its travel advisory to residents and visitors to the territory.
Dr Sealy-Thomas told Caribarena.com that Antigua has opted not to issue any warnings because it follows the World Health Organization and the Caribbean Epidemiology Center (CAREC), which have not issued any such advisories.
Other islands are considering the possible spread of the disease through the immigration of possibly contaminated people, and as such have issued public advisories.
