Antigua St John's - The Friends of Mount St John’s Medical Centre (FoMSJMC) recently handed over a new electrocardiogram (ECG) machine, valued at over $12,000, to the MSJMC Outpatient Clinic.
"The addition of the ECG machine is vital in our efforts to diagnose patients who are experiencing chest pain and provide acute medical care," MSJMC Medical Director Dr Dane Abbott said.
"The electrocardiogram machine is a critical piece of diagnostic equipment. We will be able to measure and diagnose abnormal rhythms of the heart and identify specific areas of the heart muscle that have been damaged."
President of the group Dwayna Derrick noted, "We’re always happy to support the hospital. That’s the only job of our organisation, and as much as possible we love to assist in a substantial way.
The hospital was having challenges with not enough ECG machines to support the running of the clinic. We wanted to change this.”
