The investigation probing the circumstances leading to Chester Clarke's death outside Mount St John's Medical Centre (MSJMC) is still ongoing. That was the word from Minister of Health and Social Transformation Wilmoth Daniel, responding to questions during Monday's session of Parliament.
Daniel said his ministry has selected a reputable person, Dr Raphael Evanson, to proceed with the investigation. He vouched for Evanson, noting that he is a doctor of impeccable reputation - an Antiguan who has practiced in Canada for a number of years.
He cast aside a suggestion by Member of Parliament for St Mary's North Molwyn Joseph that the Antigua Labour Party be allowed to recommend another person to work along with Dr Evanson.
Daniel asked Joseph to resist making such recommendations, since the introduction of another person would only create confusion. He issued a further reminder of Dr Evanson's impeccable reputation to bring an end to the discussion.
In response to a question on whether disciplinary action, if warranted, had been taken against doctors connected to Clarke's care, Daniel said he was not in a position to comment. He reminded that the investigation is ongoing.
