Cornelia Wagentrotz is making contributions to Antigua and Barbuda by promoting healing using nature’s resources through the practice of classical homeopathy. After watching her father succumb to lung cancer, this German born woman decided to become a Homeopath.

She was determined to give people with both chronic and acute illnesses a natural alternative to conventional medicine.

Wagentrotz completed her four year study of classical homeopathy in 2005 at the SHI School for Homeopathy in Switzerland, under the guidance of Dr. Mohinder Singh Jus, a well-known European Homeopath.

During her first visit to Antigua and Barbuda, she was captivated by the abundance of nature and clean crisp air that seemed never-ending and that’s how she came to call this place home.

Homeopathy was developed over 200 years ago by the German, Samuel Hahnemann.  Homeopaths believe that life is based “the vital force” within humans that is self adjusting and the human body heals itself.  Hence, once there is harmony within the vital force, we are healthy. Disruptions or irritations to this force will result in illness.

In opposition to this, there is also the force within the body which makes us susceptible to diseases referred to as miasms (genes). Homeopathy believes human beings are made up of body, mind and soul. It considers the patients’ characteristics, habits, physical and mental “key symptoms” as well as the diseases of other family members when making an assessment. It is then the job of the Homeopath to translate those observations into the correct medical context. Homeopaths also believe that if a patient does not heal, then it is the fault of the Homeopath, not Homeopathy.

Wagentrotz recognizes that many people have questioned the healing power of homeopathic remedies in the past but her answer to their query is, “Do you see the current running through the wires? No, you just see the light?  It’s the same with homeopathy - our remedies give the body the stimulus it needs to heal itself.”

While modern medicine seeks to suppress an illness - shifting it from the physical to another facet of the person; homeopathy, on the other hand, develops an individual remedy for each patient. This allows every patient to have a treatment that is as precise as possible to their specific illness, thereby healing it completely from deep inside.

Wagentrotz clarifies that homeopathy does not oppose modern medicine but, in fact, works closely alongside it to improve its methods. She says, “I’m not on a mission to convert everyone to homeopathy. However, I do welcome anyone who wishes to give it a try. It is my hope that people especially young children can grow up in a natural environment.”

Wagentrotz has been practicing homeopathy privately at Jolly Harbour (Marina Vista 101C) as well as at the NSA (National Stroke Association) Medical Center in Paynters, a few days a week. She is particularly fond of working with the team of medical professional at the center because she says homeopathy works ideally when there is medical input from other perspectives of science.
