Wadadli Music Fest Set for April

The Wadadli Music Festival has been set for April 30 at the St Paul’s Rectory Grounds in Falmouth. Now in its fifth year, the family event was designed to coincide with the annual Antigua Sailing Week.

This year’s event kicks off with a cook-off competition that was introduced last year. The affair will see chefs compete for one hour to prepare a meal on a coal pot, organisers told Caribarena.com.

Already slotted to appear are Causion, Maurice, Jashan Hughes, Laurena Davis, Wardadli Souljahs, Sista Souljahs, Carlos Turner, Lee Pee Ching, De Anchor, Cheze Kake Factory, Island, Hells Gate Steel Orchestra and Wadadli Riders.

“We also have vendors displaying local arts and crafts, face painting and bounce house for the kids. The show then starts later in the day where we showcase a variety of talented artists,” they said.

This year’s line up of artistes has not yet been finalised.

The Festival was initially introduced five years ago, when it attracted roughly 1,500 people. “Throughout the past years, the turnout has grown tremendously," the organiser said. "As we approach our fifth year, we expect even greater numbers."

As is customary, the event is free, however patrons are asked to take with them a can of non-perishable food, which will be donated to three charitable organisations – the Amazing Grace Foundation, Sunshine Home for Girls, and the Boys Training School.


“So get ready for the music, food, fashion, and the people," the overseas-based organisers said. "It's all about the experience and one thing we must never forget… Bring A Can and Come."

The success of the Wadadli Music Fest is solely due to the continued support of loyal sponsors and volunteers.
